COVID-19 Foster Faces

Foster Dog: Dash

“Dash has been an excellent companion during the quarantine.

I had a dog for years, lost her two years ago and then started a job that had me traveling the majority of the time. As soon as it was decided we would be working from home for the foreseeable future, I knew it was the perfect chance to bring a pup back into my home. Dash has kept me to a regular routine, has been a great snuggle buddy and has even appeared on a few conference calls.

It’s hard to fully explain what a blessing he has been during this time, but having him has been the best thing to happen during quarantine.

Fostering has been an awesome experience, knowing that I helped save Dash’s life and the lives of other dogs as well.”

Foster Dog: Ms. Sadie

“The quote ‘who saved who’ never applied more than when Ms. Sadie came into my world during the COVID-19 pandemic.

As a volunteer for the DAS run group, I had my eye out for a senior dog to adopt, I just didn't know it would happen so soon.

The urgent call for foster support during the pandemic was just the push I needed to take the plunge. I knew, if there was ever a time to support, it was NOW. Over the course of four quarantine weeks, Ms. Sadie stole my heart through her playful behavior, morning and evening runs, couch cuddling, and clever personality. Still maintaining my "long-term foster" status, it wasn't until a couple of people inquired about Ms. Sadie that I knew I had to make her OFFICIALLY mine. The other potential adopters didn't come through, so I rightfully stole her away, just like she stole my heart.”
