WHAT IS FRIENDS OF DALLAS ANIMAL SERVICES?

Friends of Dallas Animal Services is an all volunteer organization founded in 2019 to serve as the official, non-profit fundraising partner of Dallas Animal Services. We are a federally exempt 501(c)(3) public charity; EIN 83-4099633. Friends of Dallas Animal Services has a formalized relationship with the City of Dallas via a Memorandum of Understanding.

WHAT IS DALLAS ANIMAL SERVICES?

Dallas Animal Services is the municipal shelter serving the City of Dallas. It the only open intake shelter in the City and takes in all Dallas pets in need, regardless of medical condition or available shelter space. Dallas Animal Services is also responsible for animal related public safety in the City of Dallas. The City of Dallas provides operating funds to Dallas Animal Services in the city budget.

WHAT IS THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN FRIENDS OF DALLAS ANIMAL SERVICES & DALLAS ANIMAL SERVICES?

Friends of Dallas Animal Services raises funds to support the pets and people at Dallas Animal Services, but we are completely separate entities. Friends of Dallas Animal Services helps bridge the gap between the city budget and the cost of lifesaving programs at Dallas Animal Services that positively impact shelter pets every day. Friends of Dallas Animal Services receives no government funding, does not have a physical location, and is not involved in day-to-day shelter operations.
