The Heart of Our Mission
We founded Friends of Dallas Animal Services to bridge the gap between what the city budget provides and the cost of lifesaving and innovative shelter programs and services.
Our story began with a small group of shelter volunteers connected by an appreciation of the unique operational challenges of a municipal shelter and the simple belief that every shelter animal deserves compassionate care. We are committed to providing the resources and support needed to provide compassionate care for all shelter pets and to help find positive outcomes for all placeable pets.
How We Help
We work closely with the leadership team at Dallas Animal Services to identify priority needs in four focus areas.

Happy animals are less stressed, which increases quality of life and likelihood of adoption.
MEDICAL
Critical medical equipment and staffing are essential in keeping shelter pets healthy.
FOSTER
Foster care prepares pets for adoption by providing a safe and loving temporary home while opening shelter space for new intakes.

SUPPORT
Financial assistance for emergent shelter needs mobilizes DAS staff and is critical to overall shelter success.
